Devil's Shoestring (Viburnum Alnifolium) Dried

Sometimes referred to as Twigs in old Hoodoo oral histories, Devil`s Shoe String is a common and potent root utilized most frequently in Hoodoo practices. Devil's Shoe String is often an ingredient used in the creation of a Mojo bag. Often deployed as a protective device when used to create a bracelet or anklet.

Some believe that this is where it obtained its name, (The Devil's Shoe String). The implication being that this device would "trip up the devil" like if you had tied his shoe laces together. Devil's shoe string is also seen as being the first defense against Goofer's dust. As a luck device Devil's shoe string is seen as helping to aid in finding a new job or to obtain a raise, to gain the attention of a lover, and is commonly used by herbalist who see this root as having antispasmodic property which particularly help to ease menstrual pains. A bundle can be place above the door to the home or the hearth to protect the home from evil.
