Broom tops is a large bushy shrub, with numerous long, angular, dark-green branches. It has scattered blooms of silky brilliant yellow or lemon colored flowers when young. This plant is often confused with broom corn sorghum because of its name. Broom tops are a native shrub of Europe, where they are cultivated in gardens for their beauty.

Shoots taken from the young shrub have been used medicinally. However there is insufficient research to conclude that this plant has medicinal benefits. Broom tops are believed to be useful in soothing anxiety as broom tops has a calming stimulant effect. Broom tops when ingested is a powerful Diuretics which potentially can cause kidney damage.

Broom tops is typically used to make a powerful cleansing wash for tools, as well as a cleansing bath to break curses and dispel negative energy. Broom tops can also be used to anoint entryways and passages in the home to serve as a ward against evil.
